Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his address to the Federal Assembly on February 21, announced his intention to enter the markets of Southeast Asia and the Middle East, including through Kazakhstan and the Caspian Sea, the pro-Kremlin news agency Sputnik.kz reports .

“We will expand promising foreign economic relations and build new logistics corridors. Decisions have already been made to extend the Moscow-Kazan expressway to Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk and Tyumen, and in the future to Irkutsk and Vladivostok with access to Kazakhstan, Mongolia and China, which, among other things, will significantly expand our economic ties with the markets of Southeast Asia,” Putin said.

In addition, Putin said that it is planned to “develop the ports of the Black and Azov Seas”, while saying that “it is necessary to build logistics corridors within the country.”

He also stated that a land corridor was laid to the Crimea occupied by Russia.

“We will pay special attention to the North-South international corridor. Already this year, ships with a draft of at least 4.5 meters will be able to pass through the Volga-Caspian Canal – this will open up new routes for business cooperation with India, Iran, Pakistan, and the countries of the Middle East. We will continue to develop this corridor,” Putin said.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a message to the Federal Assembly. The event is held in the Moscow Gostiny Dvor. Not only deputies and members of the Federation Council are invited, but also various representatives of the pro-Kremlin community. Representatives of the so-called “foreign agents” media did not receive invitations.

Kazakhstan has not officially condemned the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine, but has recognized the territorial integrity of Ukraine. At the same time, Astana has repeatedly stated that the country “does not allow the use of its territory to circumvent sanctions.”
